Local Utility Guides

PDFs are self-contained documents that display consistently everywhere. But there are many situations where you need the content as images instead: embedding a page in a presentation, sharing individual pages without requiring a PDF reader, extracting a diagram or table for use in another document, or creating thumbnails for a PDF preview.

How the conversion works

Converting a PDF to images means rendering each page of the PDF to a canvas at a target resolution, then saving that canvas as an image file. ZenTools uses PDF.js — Mozilla's open-source PDF rendering engine, the same library that powers Firefox's built-in PDF viewer — to render each page in the browser. No server processes the file.

JPG vs PNG for PDF pages

JPG is the right choice for most PDF conversions. PDF pages that contain photographs, coloured backgrounds, or complex graphics will produce smaller JPG files without noticeable quality degradation. PNG is better when the PDF contains crisp text, diagrams with flat colours, or transparent elements that you want to preserve.

How to convert a PDF to images in your browser

  1. 1Go to tools.zenwebx.com/pdf-to-images.
  2. 2Drop your PDF file (up to 50 MB).
  3. 3Select JPG or PNG as the output format.
  4. 4Click Convert. PDF.js renders each page to a canvas at 150 DPI.
  5. 5Download the ZIP file containing all page images.

Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed — the tool needs to be able to read the file. Remove the password protection first using a dedicated PDF editor, or ask the creator to provide an unlocked version.

Common use cases

  • Creating individual page images from a multi-page PDF report.
  • Embedding PDF pages in a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation.
  • Extracting charts and diagrams for use in other documents.
  • Generating preview thumbnails for a PDF download on a website.
  • Sharing a single PDF page without requiring recipients to have a PDF viewer.

Convert your PDF to images

Every page exported as JPG or PNG, bundled in a ZIP. No upload, runs in your browser.
