How to Download X (Twitter) Videos and GIFs as MP4

You can bookmark a post on X, but bookmarks disappear when the author deletes the post or locks their account. If you want to keep a clip — a product demo, a funny moment, a news video, or your own post — you need the actual video file.

Step by step: X video to MP4

1. 1Open the post on X and tap the Share icon → Copy link.
2. 2Go to tools.zenwebx.com/twitter-video-downloader and paste the link.
3. 3Click Fetch. The post text, account and preview appear.
4. 4Click Get next to the quality you want — the top option is the highest quality.
5. 5Click Download to save the MP4.

Which quality should you pick?

X stores each uploaded video at several resolutions. The tool lists them from highest bitrate to lowest. The resolution label is the shorter side of the video, so a vertical phone video shows as 720p even though it is 720 × 1280.

X GIFs are actually MP4 videos

When someone posts a GIF on X, X converts it to a short, silent MP4 that loops. That's why GIFs download as MP4 — and it's a good thing: an MP4 is typically 5–10× smaller than the same animation as a .gif file and looks sharper. If you really need a .gif (for an email signature or an old chat app), drop the MP4 into the Video to GIF tool.

Saving just the audio

Choose MP3 to keep only the sound from a video post — a speech, a podcast clip or a song snippet. The audio is extracted in your browser with FFmpeg.wasm, so it takes a few seconds after the download finishes.

What can't be downloaded

• Posts from protected (private) accounts.
• Deleted posts or posts from suspended accounts.
• Age-restricted posts that require a signed-in account.
• Live broadcasts and Spaces.

Be fair to creators

A downloaded video still belongs to the person who made it. Saving clips for personal reference or backing up your own posts is fine. Before re-uploading someone else's video, ask them and credit the original post.
